I came back to this later because a lot of your work is really bizarre and fun to rewatch, but this time I've been noticing all the little extra details, and there's so much going on in this one scene, You mentioned 'eye candy' and you weren't kidding.

I wanted ask, since I see no other way this all comes together besides spontaneously, did you just start drawing little animation pieces and zoning out? or do you plan a bunch of stuff from the beginning? It makes me think more so of someone who's bored during a school paper and making a bunch of doodles, except all those doodles are in the same space and overlapping with each other thanks to animation. Whatever the process, I think your work really stands out creatively and keeps me coming back.

Andyl4nd responds:

Hey, thank you for the kind words!! Each animation I make starts off with a concept that helps me build the motivation to work on it, but some ideas distort so much throughout the development process that it eventually falls into that category of "zoning out and doodling". This one is definitely one of them, I was mostly occupying myself with something to draw while I streamed on twitch haha. Hope that somewhat satisfies your question!

Loved it, very gruesome but still very cute. Think it needed a bit more cute to balance things out.

parks2 responds:

Good point!

fuck yeah, it was fucking worth it though my man. This looks incredible! How long did it take you? You put all the characters on display and animated them really well, really showing your talent in pixel art. Great submission.

gatekid3 responds:

i cant give a time frame. i was working on and off for the duration of the contest, which was about a month

I love stop motion and stop motion films, the fact its such an involved process and takes a lot of hard work gives me a lot of appreciation for it. People see nightmare before christmas or corpse bride and theyre like ''ooh spooky movie'' and im like "This looks fucking cool and someone probably died with how long it took to finish." Kubo and the two strings is the most recent stopmotion i've seen, and now yours.

SketchMeNot responds:

Oh gosh due thank you so much for your kind words!! (>w<) This project was definitely waaaaay harder than I expected it to be hahaha x,D Still, it was super fun and I'm really glad I got the chance to try my hand at stop motion. Stop motion media still amazes me every time I see it! (^w^)

Still love these, this one was pretty cool too. I just wanna say now that you've been doing this awhile, I really appreciate the original takes and stories of your videos. Like it's one thing to make 'a kirby video' it might be moody, it might be funny, whatever, but what you're doing with the existing characters is very original, the story is always engaging and i'm eager to see what happens. This one was very different than the others, but it ended up being so in a good way too. Keep making stories told through visuals like this, it's been great.

Edit in case you see it: Animation is a ton of work, and yours is stellar, didn't even include that in my message, I'm glad you've got lots of ideas still, I'll definitely keep watching, keep being creative my guy.

KimiOmega responds:

Thank you so much, Minato
I'm glad you're enjoying the ride so far! I have a ton of ideas for this series, not sure if I could animate them all but I'm taking the challenge. I hope you like what I have in store!

I know you've said before you don't like your earlier work, but doesn't some of this stuff, the time it was from hold some good memories for you? I loved browsing geocities sites and finding anime animations and stuff like yours. I even read Megatokyo for a bit back in the day, I read tons of webcomics, QC, Darken, Geist Panik, Crazy Sunshine, Happletea, Yeah a bunch of them were cringe, all the edgy DA art I liked was cringe, but somewhere in there, I still like that stuff, but can't really express it openly. Anyway, the point is, you clearly cared about this stuff a little bit since you held onto it, and I'm happy you did since there's lots I never saw before. We should hold on to as many memories as we can.

NCH responds:

yeah.. I kinda held on to almost all my flash animations I've done since the start. and thought its kinda a appropriate day to show some tribute to the death of flash by showing how I started off =)

When the TD series is completely over and you're out of material, or if your seemingly photographic memory ever fails you, you'll have to go back to art school AGAIN.

Also happy new year Razi!

Raziberry responds:

DEAR GOD NO

Damn that escalated quickly. Wasn't sure what I was in for with the opening, seeming a little goofy, then the vomiting ectoplasm til you fill a whole room starts. Also the little twist before the end there where it was not one ghost, but two. Pretty quality.

ClockworkPixel responds:

Thanks!

I liked it, I love the cardboard cutout look in animation, initially I was going to say I thought the dialog could have been better or funnier, or not quite so long, but reading the description and the story behind it gives me a little more appreciation. I think the important thing with any video is either the animation or sound has to carry it forward, either the dialog is too interesting and you need to hear it all, or the animation has you in a trance. In my case it was the animation. Also as a sidenote, the voice your friend put on reminds me of Dr Girlfriend from Venture Bros.

weirdegg responds:

Right on, appreciate your thoughts! I can def think of animated shorts where I loved the dialogue but the visuals less so, and vice verse. We're stoked that you dug the animation. Also, we do love Venture Bros, can def hear the vocal similarity to Dr. GF!

That plush turned out really well my guy. The real question though is when are you just gonna fill a whole video with lewd anime girls?

mattyburrito responds:

thank you so much! lmao i don't think I'm good enough yet where I could do a whole vid
