I'm always nice about reviews and critiques, If I'm telling someone why I think something they made could be better, it's because I actually care enough to post about it in the first place. Usually I worry that people will get pissed off, because who knows where their mind is after they put a bunch of work into something, so it's usually riddled with lots compliments alongside the bad stuff.
But the other thing too, is that I think a lot of art and media is subjective, like you pick your favorite video game or movie, and and guaranteed there are at least 1000 people ready to hate or talk shit about it because it is their firm belief that it sucks even if you love it, but then again maybe those people don't care about improving the media or anything like that. They're not complaining because they want the creators to get better, but because they want their opinions to be seen.
I find it hard to draw a line between improvement versus quality, because you can take something like Psychonauts, Hellsing, or Powerpuff girls, and you have wild proportions that could never exist in real life, but still manage to look really cool. Can it look better? probably, but I couldn't tell you what they should do to improve on a stylized look. I'm curious how you feel about that kind of stuff, is there a hard limit where it goes like "Alright well the artist is past the point of sucking balls, so they probably can correct their own mistakes now" or should we still take the piss out of Genndy Tartakovsky each time he makes a new show?
